What’s the most realistic bridge into tech for someone with my background?

I’d appreciate some honest career advice from people already working in tech.

I’m currently working remotely in a customer support/sales role for a large company, but long term I’m trying to transition into a more technical career path. My background is a mix of recruiting operations, customer support, process coordination, systems/tools, and data-heavy work. I also completed a software engineering bootcamp and still genuinely enjoy web development/front-end work.

Lately though, I’ve felt stuck.

I’ve applied to software engineering, IT support, analyst, SaaS support, and tech-adjacent roles with very mixed results. Lots of applications, networking attempts, LinkedIn messages, connection requests, etc., but very few interviews and plenty of silence/rejections.

Part of my challenge is probably that I have too many interests at once. I can easily go down rabbit holes researching:

  • frontend/web development
  • Salesforce
  • systems/app support
  • business or data analyst paths
  • AI tools/workflows
  • SaaS/customer success
  • IT support

I enjoy technology, problem-solving, helping people, improving workflows/processes, and learning new systems quickly. I also know the current market is rough, especially for career pivoters and junior-level tech applicants.

At this point, I’m trying to figure out:

  • what roles my background realistically aligns with
  • whether I should narrow my focus more aggressively
  • and what path gives me the best chance of actually breaking into tech and growing long term

I’d especially appreciate advice from people who transitioned into tech later, came from nontraditional backgrounds, or found a “bridge” role before moving deeper into engineering or IT.
