I’m looking to add a 2' x 8' shelf to the back wall of my garage. I plan to support the back edge with lag screws into the studs, but I’m unsure how to support the front. My idea is to run a piece of Unistrut above the trusses and drop all-thread down to the shelf, but I’m not sure if the additional load will be an issue. At that location, the trusses run perpendicular to the back wall, and it’s near the end of the truss where the layout transitions from east–west to north–south. Any recommendations?
