I’ve been running a homelab for a while, and lately I keep wondering what would actually help the privacy community—not just me tinkering for fun.
So here’s what I’m thinking: a fully hosted Monero node and wallet. The catch? Everything runs over Tor—no clearnet at all.
- Signup happens only through a .onion address.
- You pay with XMR, period. No cards, PayPal, or any traceable crap.
- Zero personal info. No name, no email, no KYC nonsense. You just show up and get started.
- You get a simple web dashboard to send, receive, and monitor your wallet.
- If you’re technical, you can opt in for RPC API access.
- All traffic runs through Tor by default.
It’s basically your own private Monero wallet setup—without having to mess with self-hosting or the technical headaches. You pay, get your credentials, and you’re good to go.
The big thing I’m aiming for is filling the gap where “privacy” services still want an email or some identifier. I want this to be totally anonymous, right from the start.
For pricing, I’ve got rough ideas:
- Basic wallet access: about $5–10/month in XMR.
- API access: $15–25/month.
- Everything’s monthly, you can cancel whenever, no contracts.
Here’s what I want to know:
Would you actually pay for this, or would you stick to self-hosting?
What features would make it worth it vs. running your own node?
Any red flags or trust issues I haven’t considered?
What would help you trust a service like this?
Not selling anything yet. Just want honest feedback before I commit to building it out. I’m happy to talk tech stack and opsec in the comments.
So, what do you think?
