Hi everyone! hoping this is okay to ask here. This has been on my mind and I’d really appreciate some perspective from this community.

My son is 5 years old. Since he was little, he’s naturally gravitated toward things people often label as “girl” interests music, dress-up, princesses, painting his nails, playing with makeup, all of that. I’ve always tried to keep things open and supportive and let him explore what he enjoys without making it a big deal.

As he’s getting older, I’m noticing it more consistently. He often chooses “girl” toys or activities, always pretends be a girl in play, likes tighter-fitting clothes, and has pointed out dresses at the store saying he likes them and wants them. He’s also said a few times that he wishes he was a girl. At the same time, he doesn’t seem upset being called a boy or insist on being seen as a girl.

I guess I’m trying to understand if this is just age-appropriate exploration, or if it could be early signs that he may be transgender. I don’t feel the need to label anything right now. I just want to make sure I’m supporting him in the best, healthiest way possible.

So I’m curious: Did anyone know they were transgender at a young age? Is there anything I should keep in mind? How would be best to support?

Thank you so much. I really appreciate any insight 💛
