Female 28. I went to the drs because I believed I had heart pain. The dr did an ecg and everything seemed fine and he said have you possibly thought it could be breast pain? He did an examination and found a lump. Sent a referral off for an urgent mammogram within 2 weeks. It’s been two weeks and I have been back and forth with the clinic about an update about my referral. I have 3 young children so I’m really scared. I got ahold of someone today and she said because of my age she’s not doing a mammogram but and ultrasound, I’m grateful for anything. She continued to say my age, that it’s very unlikely it is cancer, I told her my symptoms and I felt so brushed off.
My symptoms are breast pain, pain in my underarm, a rash all over both sides of my ribs going up onto my left breast, a burning sensation down the side of my left breast. Feeling of a let down of milk in my nipples (have not breastfed for 3 years). Severe back pain especially on my left side upper back. I’m just so scared. My question is, is it worth spending $400 nzd to go for a private mammogram or should I wait the 4-6 week wait for an ultrasound? I’m so stuck, I’m so overwhelmed. I don’t know what to do. Any advice, I am grateful for.
