After having watched f1 since 2018 I finally decided to dive into the world of sim racing in 2025 as a treat for graduating high school (after having been a Verstappen fan boy for the past 7 years)
First setup:
Logitech G29 with a f1 wheel mod mounted to my desk I used this setup for around 4 months before upgrading to a dedicated rig. This was running off my ps5 primarily playing f1 24 for the entire time
Second setup:
Mounted my logitech g29 to the play seat challenge x and also bought a gaming laptop so I could finally race on iracing (unfortunately not a pc because I had to also use this laptop for university). I used this for around 2 months
Third setup:
Upgraded my logitech g29 to the fanatec csl ready to race bundle. The first time switching to direct drive is an experience I believe everyone should go through. I used this exact setup for around 6 months
Fourth setup:
Finally upgraded from the play seat challenge to the fanatec csl cockpit v1.5 whilst also upgrading the wheel base from 5nm to 8nm and purchasing the fanatec csl gt3 wheel and load cell pedals. As of right now as a broke uni student who has spent all his money from his part time job on a racing sim and after 300 hours on f1 and 100 hours on iracing I’m happy where i’m at. Don’t plan on upgrading anything anytime soon!
Very very surprised on the csl cockpit v1.5 as there’s virtually 0 flex even on 100% on the fanatec csl load cell pedals. Although I had to get creative with mounting the pedals as for some reason fanatec didn’t make the csl pedals seamlessly fit the pedal tray. Either that or I can’t read instructions.
