Is abiomed (now part of jnj medtech) a good company to work for in terms of work life balance, work culture, stability, etc.

Hi Reddit, I could really use some outside perspective on a tough decision I’m facing.

My background: I have 3 years of experience in battery manufacturing - specifically in quality engineering.

The situation:
I currently have two job offers and I’m struggling to decide between them.

Option A — Big tech company, quality engineering role
• Located in west coast (I’m currently in east coast)
• Would have to relocate alone - husband stays in NY for now due to his own training program
• Base 95k + equity amounting to ~10k/year + relocation support
• The role is directly related to my battery background
• Very well known brand that could open doors
• Fast-paced, high pressure environment

Option B — Global consumer goods company, process improvement role
• I can live at home, no rent
• Base $95k
• No relocation needed, stay with husband
• More stable, structured environment
• Good brand but less “exciting” than Option A
• Role is more CI/Lean focused

What I’m torn about:
Option A is clearly stronger for long-term career growth and brand recognition. The industry is growing fast and the compensation is better when you factor in no state tax and RSU. But I’d be alone in a new state, far from my husband and family, in a role I’m not 100% sure about.
Option B keeps me home, stable, close to my husband. But I worry I’m taking the “safe” route and might regret not taking the bigger opportunity.

My questions:
• For those who have relocated alone for a career opportunity — was it worth it? How did you manage?
• Long term, which type of experience (Option A brand/industry vs Option B stability/CI) opens more doors?
• Am I overthinking this? Is Option A clearly the right move?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks 🙏

I got a job offer from tesla as an associate engineer with about 3 years of experience. Is it reasonable to ask for a change in the title to engineer?

Hello,

I recently got an job offer for tesla in Nevada for energy storage products and I'm debating if it's worth going.

I quit my job 2 months ago and have been interviewing very actively but this is the only job offer that I have (waiting results for one other role at micron), and I feel a little desperate. Money is not an issue because I live at home and have severance pay saved up.

My family is located in new york city, and my ultimate goal is to find a job that's communtable from home, and I'm not so sure if my experience at tesla as a supplier quality engineer will help me gain the experience that I need for roles in nyc. I was thinking about utility companies located in ny, but I'm not so sure if my experience as a supplier quality engineer is what they would look for.

Any insight is appreciated.
