I’m currently running some fairly demanding applications on a VPS, and I’m hitting a load average of ~14.5 on a 5-core instance, so I’m clearly pushing it beyond what it should handle.
Latency is pretty critical for my use case, so I’m specifically looking for providers with infrastructure in France. I’ve checked out providers like Netcup and MVPS, but either they don’t offer enough CPU resources or they don’t have French locations.
I’ve been considering Ikoula since they seem to have their own datacenters in France, but I’ve seen mixed opinions and I’m not sure how well they perform under heavier workloads.
I’m also wondering whether it would make more sense to:
- scale vertically (bigger VPS / dedicated), or
- split my applications across multiple smaller instances (possibly even across providers)
Does anyone here have experience with:
- Ikoula (performance, CPU consistency, support)?
- Other VPS providers with strong presence in France (or at least very low latency to France)?
Any recommendations or real-world experiences would be really appreciated.
