Hello!

We bought this peppermint peach tree 2 years ago and had a garden guy plant it. Unfortunately he planted it way too low. With that combine with the Texas clay soil, and us neglecting the tree, it did some pretty bad damages to the root.

We dug it up over the weekend and the first thing I saw was most of the roots were gone. Only 2 main stems remained that only about 18 inches long and blackened. Definitely root rot. Anyway, we added more good drainage soils and raised it up, added a good dose of fungicide as well. But I think the root isn’t going to be able to support the tree.

How much and how far we can prune back this tree to make sure it’s surviving? Anything else we can do right now? Or just leave it alone? Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
