Close female friend ghosted me after a bad joke

So I (male, 20s) have been friends with someone (female, 20s) I met in an online game (Final Fantasy XIV). We're both Asian and introverts, she's Malaysian. We've known each other for a few years but only became close over the past year, spending a lot of time together doing raids, various in-game content, and even other games outside of FFXIV. We talk a lot in game and occasionally on Discord.
It started on April 1st. I sent her a post on Discord. It was a screenshot of a Lalafell (an in-game race) posing and mocking her own flat chest. I jokingly said I got an idea for her next in-game portrait (a feature where you pose your character). Her in-game character and her original character that she likes to draw share the same name, and she treats the character almost like a daughter figure with strong personal attachment. So the joke probably hit her on multiple levels at once without me realizing. She replied with "don't ever talk about her like that again" and went silent. I immediately deleted the post and apologized sincerely. I told her I didn't mean to disrespect her character or make her feel bad and that I'd be more mindful going forward. No reply.
About a week after the incident I asked in game if she wanted to do our usual raids together. She replied. "I'm going on my own, good luck with your clears." And that was it. After that I went into full give her space mode.
On April 25th I sent her a game trailer for upcoming content we were both excited about. She actually replied normally. We ended up doing an in-game activity together with another friend that same day and things felt normal. I genuinely thought we were past it.
But the very next day I sent her a post like I normally would and got no reply. What made it worse was watching her chat normally with others in our Discord server while ignoring me specifically. Later that night I saw her join raids through party finder while continuing to ignore me.
Yesterday I tried sending her a message about an in-game outfit that matches a fashion style we've both liked before. She didn't reply.
She seemed to talk to me normally for one day and then went back to being distant again for no clear reason. That honestly hurt more than the original silence because it gave me hope and it was so confusing.
I own that the joke was careless and I apologized immediately. I've been patient, gave her space, and kept my attempts low pressure. But after a month of this I'm starting to feel like I've done everything I reasonably could and I'm running out of ways to stay positive about it. Has anyone been through something similar and actually managed to repair the friendship?
TL;DR: Made a careless joke about my online friend's OC, she got hurt and went cold. Apologized immediately and sincerely. After a month of silence, one normal day, then cold again. Been patient and low pressure throughout. Not sure if this friendship can be repaired or if I should just let it go.
