My partner (F 32) have always been fascinated by rocks. While not their field of expertise, they are keen to learn more about the science of geology, and would wish to do so at an introductory college/university level. I (M 33) would like to get them a birthday present that would help them follow their passion for it if I can.

If there are any books, guides, or geological minded gifts that the community could recommend for a budding amateur geologist, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
