Something that's really interesting about Wattpad (and other online writing platforms like RoyalRoad and Inkitt) is how oftentimes a story can have good writing quality but because it's unengaging people don't read it. Or a story can have grammatical errors and cringe stuff, but people love it.

So, since traditional metrics of what makes a good story just...don't matter with Wattpad as far as I've seen, what actually makes a story on Wattpad 'good'?

Just curious, because I've just returned to Wattpad, and I really want to make a good serial story.

For the record, I'm not talking about stuff like 'these tropes are what's popular right now', more like structural things (like writing not-cringe cliffhangers, engaging banter, etc.)
