Not all hormonal meds for endo are birth control

Hi everyone, I just wanted to mention that lots of people talk about BC here as a shorthand for hormonal meds, but there are medications for endo that are not birth control (and actually tend to be more effective). In particular, dienogest (Visanne) and norethindrone acetate (norlutate in Canada at least).

These meds aren't available everywhere, but they are progesterone only and are the only meds (as far as I am aware) that have studies suggesting they shrink endometriomas and possibly endo lesions too. As with all hormonal meds, people respond differently, and they do potentially come with side effects. But on the whole they tend to be well tolerated. They are also a good option if you have history of migraines or blood clots.

Just wanted to let everyone know. Especially since many doctors aren't aware of these medications.

EDIT: For clarification, it's not that the meds don't impact on conception (they absolutely do), it's just that they aren't designed as BC and I wanted people to be aware there are meds available that are endo-specific.

Just went for a walk and my ankle just pinged with pain part way. Got home and now I'm limping. My ribcage, back and shoulder seems to be getting stiffer by the day. My left hip keeps getting angry, and I have nerve pain in my left hand that I think comes from compression at the neck.

I've recently found a new physio and athletic therapist at a hypermobility clinic. I keep trying to move every day, believing that going for walks or doing heel raises and ankle circles will help. But then I run into more issues. Is this just par of the course for hypermobility?

I also have endometriosis and I suspect my nervous system is sensitised. It's hard to know what is pain caused by mechanical issues and what is my brain.
