Basically, the title. Should I buy the DLC or D2R?

I played a few D4 seasons, and it was a lot of fun.

I'm more on the casual side rather than the hardcore side.

I never played D2. My first contact with Diablo games was with D3.

Should I buy the DLC for D4, or is D2R more fun/worth trying?
