Is it true that it's easier to move forward if you tell them?

Well, it'd be weird to reach out to someone you haven't talk to for years, and imagining his perspective— I'd find myself weird too. We were best friends for two years, I had a little crush on him even before we became friends, I thought that It'll fade away if I chose the friendship route. I only grew fonder of him, more experiences to reminisce about, and I regretted not telling him before we separated schools. Should I tell him?
