Hey guys. We have two students here needing to take the DAC (Digital Audio Capture) test via Kiosk mode on their Chromebooks. I've followed their recommended settings in Google Admin (via Effective March 2026 AP® Digital Audio Capture (DAC) App Overview for Chromebook), and when clicking the test from the apps menu it loads the test and eventually stops at a white screen with the following error: "AP DAC application doesn't support this browser".
I did change a few settings including having it Auto launch into the app. Interestingly this change, as well as toggling "Allow App to Manage Power", did actually work for one device I was testing. I thought I fixed it, however that does not seem to be the case.
Since I got this one device working, I got a like to like Chromebook model, and also the same firmware version, in the same OU for a second device. Everything is the same as far as I can tell, and the one device works, and the other does not. Yes I have powerwashed each device many times. I've also tried different models of Chromebooks, different firmwares, etc.
This test is Monday. I really would settle for ONE more device working, but I'd also like to figure out a long term solution.
Any advice?
Thanks
Disclaimer - I prefer the survival horror games, and great atmosphere, typically over the action horror games.
Resident Evil 1 - Just classic, and I love the campy style. Yes objectively I think remake is better, but 1 is special.
Resident Evil 7 - I felt like this was Resident Evil's return to it's roots game. I think first person is a great compromise to bring back the suspense that until then was only done by fixed cameras. Atmosphere in this game and 1Remake are top notch.
Resident Evil 2 - My favorite thing about this game is the Zap system, the way the A and B scenarios work, and the story continuity between them. It kind of reminds me of a better cooler version of the way Half-Life, Opposing Force, and Blueshift all went on at the same time, except in this case your choices can affect the others. Such a great and innovative idea. If you're wondering why I placed remake of 2 so low, the removal of IMO the best and most innovative features of 2 were removed.
Resident Evil 0 - A truly underrated Resident Evil game. When I think of survival horror, and classic Resident Evil experience, 1 and 0 are the ones that first come to mind. To me, 0 will always be the most hardcore classic Resident Evil experience. I played it on hard my first play through, and it was no joke! Something I wish more of the games had, a real challenge. I also liked the item management, because to me it made more sense than the chest system being shared in RE1. Yes, I understand RE1's was more user friendly (typically), but it also didn't make sense. The advantage to RE0's is that if you're full and want to swap to an item you don't have room for, you can drop an item and come back later for it. I think it's a cool trade off. Also, leech mode was by far the coolest bonus game mode from any RE game, and a nice bonus for those who like to challenge themselves.
Resident Evil 8 - I felt like this was a great sequel to 7. I don't feel like it surpassed it, but I found it very enjoyable.
Resident Evil 3 and 3make - These are about the same for me. I can acknowledge that RE3R could have been way way better, but I felt like what it lost comparing it to the original, was much less than what 2 lost comparing it to the original 2. Since I felt like RE2 had bigger shoes to fill, I don't quite hold RE3R to the same standards. If it were up to me, Capcom would make updated versions of both RE3R, and RE2R with the added content and features that were cut.
Resident Evil 5 - This is actually the Resident evil game I played the most. Why? Co-op. I rate this game high because co-op can make the experience you have vastly different from person to person. I also think it's one of the better stories in the series.
Revelations 1 - This game had a great setting on the boat. If it was entirely the boat section, and less episodic I'd probably rate this game much higher. For an original portable game, it's impressive!
CVX - Admittedly I only played this once a long time ago. I remember really liking it until I got softlocked. Such a shame!
Resident Evil 4 - Don't let it's placement fool you, I actually really enjoy this game. I even supported RE4HD for years. The reason I have it further down the list is because it's just not my favorite style Resident Evil game. It's a fantastic game, just not my ideal RE game. The village section in particular was top notch. As far as 4Remake, I haven't played it yet, but judging by the trailers I anticipate liking it even more than the original. It looks slightly darker in tone. We'll see!
Revelations 2 - This game was fun, but I kind of wish the 2nd player wasn't always playing a girl who mostly just crawls through vents. Also I believe the PC version had only local split screen. RE5/6 I played over LAN, but could not with this game.
Resident Evil 6 - A lot of content here, but it's not very good. I still enjoyed it thanks to the co-op, and the story was alright. Def a jump the shark feeling moment in the RE series. I'd still recommend everyone play it.
RE2R - See my comments on RE2. I am very critical of this game. Not only for the removal of features from 2, but also some other mistakes like bullet sponge zombies. If you're playing on hard and you are playing well, it can take up to 15 headshots to down a zombie. Not a fun way of increasing difficulty. I would have rather seen some more dynamic changes to up the difficulty (like shutters breaking, or crimsons heads etc). I rate this low because it had so much potential, and ended up being a big disappointment to me. I still have this game recommended on Steam, I am upset about it but I can see why especially newer players would still like it.
TL:DR. In the end, I always answer the question "What Resident Evil games should I play?" the same way: All of them.
I'm a busy dad of 3 that's why RE4/9 haven't been played yet.
** Correction I started playing in 98.
