Speechies/SLPs/SLTs Advice for navigating a switch in careers' to speech pathology

Heyy, I would love to hear any tips, advice, podcast, Youtube recommendations for students or graduates that were helpful and inspiring getting through grad/masters.

What helped you get through grad school, especially if your Bachelors' degree was not related to audiology/communication sciences? Is there anything you would have done differently before the course?

I am aware of many who have expressed about the intensity of the course. Any positives :))

(Australia) Psychology --> MSc Speech Pathology education and Job prospects

(Australian Speech Pathologists) Hello everyone,
I’m really interested in studying for a Masters in Speech Pathology. However, I'm trying to switch from psychology. I would love some input from the perspective of an international student too.

  • Does anyone have a similar experience, how was the transition?
  • Any experience or certifications one should aim to acquire before the course.
  • After a bit of research I have found out that it's highly recommended/compulsory to complete certain modules if you haven’t studied them before (Phonetics, linguistics, etc).  Were online/bridge courses accepted? If so does anyone have any recommendations.
  • Are there any universities more accommodating to non-traditional backgrounds?
  • The courses are quite competitive, how could I increase my chances to get onto the course.

Any advice, insight would be super helpful!!

Prospects NQL Speech and Language Therapists (Band 5)

Hii there, I'm interested in studying Masters Speech and Language therapy (UK). However, I was hoping to find out what the job prospects are for a newly qualified SaLT to get a visa-sponsored role soon after qualifying.
Are there any specialties that have a higher demand within SaLT or skills that will help with employment (before or within the Masters)? Any advice, insight or suggestions would be super helpful.

In my previous job roles I had to give references. However, now I have been asked work experience letters. The catch is I have worked in what is called a zero-hour contracted job OR Flexible hours job and although I have worked alot of hours I'm unsure how to go about the specifics on my work experience letter request. Is it just the start and end dates, or try to request my previous employer to provide specific hours (as it overlaps with another job).

Also I can't discard this work experience.

Has anyone had to deal with this dilemma, would really appreciate any advise?
