City Council lies - 600 acres of agricultural for VBDA data centers
Council was briefed in August 2025 by the Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development that Acoustical Sheetmetal Co. needs to expand from Landstown Commons into 93 acres at Innovation Park - and then into 600 acres into agricultural. They have already consumed 324 acres at Corporate Landing Parkway, and additional acreage at Taylor Farm Industrial Park, and Oceana Industrial Park. Now, the development authority is deadset on building hundreds of acres in the Agricultural District below the green line. And city council is lying to residents saying there's no 'concrete plans' yet their proposal for the ITA proves the exact opposite - they literally paved the way for 'industrial' (data centers) to consume over 600 acres.
