I’m considering getting a monk parakeet, I want to know what is really important for birds… I tend to go really ocd and make everything perfect and while that’s great for a bird i shouldn’t be spending 5000$+ dollars just to feel like I’m doing it right.

My main concern is the lighting, my house has lights on dimmers as I’m very light sensitive. I hear that can be very flashy for birds and could stress them out! I want to be a good bird parent.

Also I have a kitty, she is three and would be staying upstairs as my room is in the basement. Would her smell stress a bird out?

I appreciate any advice that you guys have!!
