I smile at my seven month old brother as I sit in the alley and watch him sleep in my arms cause as long he is with me and safe I am happy.

I am a bit hungry but it could be worse and I don't know where our Mommy is, not I care cause she is not very nice when she is with us.

In the middle of the night, I awake from a nightmare to someone shaking me awake and loudly whispering I had a bad dream....

"It's okay little bro", I whisper, hugging him and welcoming him into my bed, as after all I'm the eldest and our mother was fired from her job again so she decided to go on vacation and leave us kids home alone for who knows how long, not that she's any better at parenting when she's actually home.
