Popular names in my area that I hate
I work in a school in this south and these names send me over the edge.
Paisley: Gag. The sound of this name said with a southern accent is like nails on a chalkboard.
Tinsley: Your child is not a Christmas accessory. Bad choice.
Collins: First name for a girl? I think of a racist old war general.
Baker: Also a girl's first name in this neck of the woods. Second in command to General Collins.
Not a specific name, but a trend: Using unconventional family surnames as first names. I'm sorry, just because your family is "somebody" around town does not make the surname a "cute and unique" first name. No, it's not better if you hyphenate it with a more conventional name (like Ann-Surname or Surname-Jo).
Any other people who work in education have names they can't stand?
