New heater, but hot water slow
We have a Rheem Tankless unit for the bulk of our house. Our master bath is the furthest point, so we had the plumbers install a 6 gallon point of use tank to feed it. Both are in the basement - The tankless feeds the house as well as the gallon. The 6 gallon is dedicated to the MB. It still takes forever to get warm water to our master. I replaced the 6 gallon with a new one last month (after 12 years of use the old one rusted out). I expected an improvement in water pressure and quick warm water feed, but the pressure still sucks and it takes about 2-3 min to get hot water.
Here's the odd thing I noticed when I was doing the swap. I turned off the cold water outlet and hot water outlet from the Rheem, so I would think there wouldn't be any water feeding the 6 gallon. It took forever to drain, and even after it did, the pipe that connects to the hot water outlet of the 6 gallon kept draining water. I'm talking for over an hour, as if it had a feed from somewhere else. Don't know if that matters but I found it odd - the only water that should have drained was from our fixtures upstairs, and since the tankless was closed..where would the water be coming from?
