Hi everyone,
I’m about to buy a Volkswagen Golf GTE (2022) with 34,000 km on it.
The car comes from a dealership and includes 1 year of Volkswagen warranty.
I’m using a broker who performs a full inspection before purchase, and I’ll receive their report soon.
Still, I’d like to double-check things myself when I go see the car in person.
As we say: trust, but verify 😄
What I already know:
- 2022 model (Mk8)
- 34k km
- 1-year VW warranty
- Dealer sale (not private)
- Broker inspection included
What I’d like your advice on:
👉 What should I personally verify on site that could still go unnoticed?
Especially for this model:
- Hybrid system: anything I can realistically check (battery behavior, regen, EV range consistency?)
- Charging: cable condition, charging port, anything specific?
- Test drive: red flags specific to GTE (gearbox, transition electric/thermal, noises, etc.)
- Known issues on 2022 GTE / Mk8 (software bugs, infotainment, electronics?)
- Brake wear (since regen affects usage)
- Signs of misuse or hidden wear
- Anything dealers/brokers tend to overlook
Also: is there anything you’d consider a deal breaker even with a warranty?
Thanks a lot for your help 🙏
