Has anyone got experience with applying rim protection on these wheels? (Alloygator)

I unfortunately damaged one recently doing a bit of rushed parallel parking. I was recommended Alloygator but they don't work on all rims according to their site and there does appear to be a bit of a gap to the tire. They can send you out a tester pack for the cost of shipping but thought I'd check here first. For context these would be about £200 to have installed which is cheaper than repairing the wheel and I will have peace of mind when approaching kerbs.

Also should I go with red like the image from their site or black?
