Rave Advert shot on Viltrox Epic Lenses + Ursa Cine 12K LF

Hey everyone,

A few weeks ago I asked for some opinions on this grade, and I've finally finished it! (Working as DOP, Editor, & Colorist).
You can watch it here on Vimeo if you're interested:

A few changes from the last post: I did some sky replacement to add some interest in the sky areas using Davinci's native Sky Replacement tool - first time using it and it's amazing! Would highly recommend. I also softened up the image and added Davinci's Cinematic Haze effect. When you have it too strong it looks kind of goofy but put to a 0.25 blend and it's really tasteful. You don't really notice it but it adds depth and pulls your eye towards the subject I think.

We shot this on a micro budget of £400, so didn't really have much to work with, but I think it turned out great. None of this was shot at purple hour by the way, but I think the grade does a good job of changing the feel.

We shot this on the Ursa Cine 12K and Viltrox Epic Lenses (25mm, 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, and 100mm). I personally own the 35, 50, and 75 as a set and hired the 25 and 100. We used vertiscope (vertical anamorphic) to get a square aspect ratio for socials.

I absolutely love this camera and lens combo, and 1.33x is great with a 3:2 sensor for both traditional anamorphic and vertiscope. 1.33x is becoming a bit more popular with the Mantis, and while I tested them out alongside the Viltrox, I thought the look was a tiny bit distracting and it had a bit of more breathing and chromatic aberration, as well as not being as sharp.

A lot of people don't seem to like sharp lenses, but you can always soften in post or with filters! I wouldn't say these shots feel clinical, hopefully they look really dreamy, surreal and "cinematic". I would rather have control over the softness in post.

In terms of camera settings, we shot in 8K 5:1 other than shots we knew we would zoom in a lot in post, which we shot in 12K for some extra breathing room. We had pretty much no lighting just a tiny handheld reflector / neg fill so the dynamic range was super important.

The editing was really fun, and I hand made a lot of glitch effects in fusion with a mix of transforms, motion blur, and glow + overlay settings. I looked for ages for premade glitch effects but they all looked really cheap, sometimes you just gotta do it yourself!

Anyways, let me know what you guys think of this! Also the guy in the room couldn't make it to rave scenes in the end so it looks a bit disjointed which is so annoying!
