My 16y/o cat is at the end of his life. His current vet has treated him for 7 years and has been wonderful. She has 4 colleagues. I’m going to call for an appointment to euthanize and staff will ask which Vet. My question to veterinarians or staff is do Veterinarians prefer to avoid euthanizing pets they have treated? I do not have a preference- I’ve met the other Veterinarians, they all are great. I know this is going to suck no matter what, but if in general, euthanizing a well known patient causes more distress, it’s an easy decision to go with one of the other vets. I don’t want her to think I didn’t choose her for any other reason than I’m attempting to be kind. Thanks.
Update - I appreciate the feedback. I’m glad I asked. I do think it’ll be more comforting to me if his regular vet is the one helping my guy over the rainbow bridge. Thank you for taking the time to respond.
