Econ Transfer Questions
Hello Future Family!
I am a Pre-Econ transfer coming in for Fall'26.
I rebuilt my math foundations and have done well in Calculus and Stats. I also Tutor economics at my college- but I know this is "baby econ" compared to what I am about to go through.
I was reading some stories on the Econ department here with the crazy grading curves and that the average GPA is in tbe 3.10s. (I cannot confirm it, Google pulled that for me). I have only seen countless horror stories and a few "its like that cause ppl are just bad at math," comments.
I have a strong passion for Economics and would love a Masters in it through the Departmental Scholars Program.
However, after reading even more about the department, im terrified of my chances for grad school.
How doable is it to maintain/ achievements a 3.5 GPA for that program in the Econ department?
For the Econ peeps, what Professors should I avoid? (Yes, I know bruinswalk is a thing, but id want to hear your stories and experiences). Are there any Econ students who are going to grad school? What is your best advice and insights?
I am excited to be among the best students in order to grow, i am super happy to join in the bruin fam, I am terrified of the professors and their grading styles. Any advice for a noob like me?
