Hello,

My little one has been attending the daycare since January, when he was 8 months old. During our initial tour in November 2024, I noticed a gastro notice in the room, and there appeared to be another outbreak over the Christmas period based on updates shared via the app.

Since starting, my child has had gastro in February, March, and April. This has significantly impacted his gut health—he has now developed lactose intolerance and has not gained any weight since January.

My older child attended a different centre for 2.5 years and never experienced gastro or any outbreaks (though they did catch other common illnesses), so this situation is quite new and concerning for me. I’m unsure whether this frequency of gastro is typical or if it points to an issue within the centre, particularly given that outbreaks seem to have persisted for several months.

I’ve discussed this with the centre manager and room leader, and while they mentioned that children are building immunity and that exclusion periods are being followed, I did not find this response fully reassuring.

I would really appreciate some guidance on how to navigate this situation. I am considering moving my child to another centre (where my older child previously attended), even though it is more expensive, as frequent illness and time at home may outweigh the cost difference.

Thank you.
