2020 civicy sedan which are well known for rear tire wear issues and the tire shop took an 3M green 50 grit abrasive fibre bristle wheel on a die grinder to “only clean” the corrosion off of the mounting surface of the rims. Now the faces aren't flat anymore shown here with some sharpie and a precision straight edge where across the face it’ll only touch just on that small section. Last I checked you want a flange to be flat and have good contact so bolts don’t worth themselves loose.
