Hi everyone. I had my first FET on 3/20/26. It was a very difficult transfer, and I was in stirrups for about an hour and 15 mins. It took 2 different doctors, trying 8 different catheters to finally place the embryo. I was told I have an extreme curvature in my cervical canal and a 5cm fibroid (on the top of my uterus) that distorts their transabdominal view. I initially had a full bladder for the transfer but was advised to empty it due to it not being helpful for embryo placement.
Fast forward 10 days: the transfer was unsuccessful. I got my period on day 11, which makes me believe that the embryo was immediately rejected. My doctors said that the large fibroid could be the reason why the transfer was so difficult. They suggested booking an appt with a surgeon to discuss removal options. My appt is scheduled for early September ☹.
In the meantime, I am going through my second retrieval now (I currently have 2 healthy embryos and would like to bank more given my initial difficult transfer) and would like to know if anyone has experienced a difficult transfer due to fibroids and changed their routine to be successful the second time around? My doctors mentioned I could do a mock transfer, cervix dilation, or potential sedation during the second transfer. Has anyone ever experienced these?
