I Have To Say This ATP, I Feel Like It's Nice Who Is Emotionally Attached To Wreck

Just listen, okay?

I have my reasons to believe that Nice is emotionally dependant on Wreck even if it looks like Nice ditched Wreck before his suicide.

It's likely just that Wreck doesn't know it or that Nice didn't show it yet (probably because the plot won't let him to yet)

At present, we know that Nice is emotionally attached to three people soo far, and they are Wreck, Shang De and Smile

Why not Smile? Why not Shang De? I'll answer it.

Smile

-Believe it or not, this won't work as an option though canon would ask you to consider it.

-Nice was very attached to Smile as his childhood idol, so much so that his dreams were inspired by him and he was never the same after he died.

-If Nice had a hard life even before he was a hero or even an idol, it was probably Smile who gave him that hope to continue.

-But here's the harsh truth, all the emotions Nice had for Smile, no matter how deep, are just parasocial in the end.

-Nice doesn't know who Smile truly is & the ways Smile let his family down and Smile didn't know the true face of Nice even till death, so they have no chances of being truly close.

-To acknowledge it as a real emotional attachment instead of a parasocial one is just

-In the end, Smile is just an idol and Nice is just a fan.

Shang De

-SD too, is not a proper example of emotional dependency in overall wise view.

-Nice feared SD would abandon him just as he threatened to, this alone proves that Nice thought his attachment to Shang De was faltering.

-Nice was attached to SD in a way, but more as a cause of career, father-figure and as a indebted-to-my-crimes-he-commanded way.

-Nice may have come back to SD many times after failing as a way of showing how the victim can't truly leave their abuser, but that doesn't mean that he is attached to SD. If anything, he feels indebted and controlled horridly by him.

-The above is proven by how SD literally has strings attached to Nice in the puppet scene.

-So yes, Shang De is not someone Nice is emotionally attached to. He was Nice's controller (unless he was somehow the one to revive Nice).

Wreck

- Wreck, soo far, is the only person to treat Nice as someone who is truly human and deserving of love.

-He was the only person to have known a good deal of who Nice was (even if not the full image) and yet treat him as a person to be admired and as his best friend (if not boyfriend also) instead of just making him look like an object to admire or a liar to hate.

-With Wreck, Nice had some normalacy in his life. A life that was rarely ever normal if you look at teh fact that he was in ballet and idol even before being an adult

-In the context of how others see him as, he was not someone's idol, someone's hero, someone's slave, someone's cause of misery or someone's disappointment when he was with Wreck, he was just somebody.

-Canon also makes it clear that Wreck was someone precious and very close to Nice from the memories Nice had of his life before he was a hero.

-Wreck and Nice shared similar interests and dreams that made them happy and get closer.

-Wreck was also likely the one to cheer up Nice and canonically checked up on him like a close person/ loved one during days normal and turbulent, especially relevant with Smile incident considered.

-Not to mention, Wreck sacrificed his dreams for Nice's to be achieved, and this must have taken a bad toll on Nice's happiness too.

-With Wreck working as a part of Nice's career and being dependant on him profession-wise, it's clear that Nice would do whatever to took to keep Wreck's career up too by keeping his own hero rep up.

-Wreck is too precious for Nice to lose, so if Nice left Treeman like that, he and Wreck could get exposed, this would mean that Wreck's social life outside his job is ruined.

-All of this most likely caused Nice to be distant from Wreck.

-Not as in "I don't feel for you anymore" distant.

-But rather as in "Why do you keep being good to a horrible person like me" distant.

-With Nice's hero career considered, his action would affect Wreck's career and life too.

-Plus, Nice may know about the wedding incident by now in some case, thus why he could have looked so dead eyed in the Hero Tournament.

-With all this in mind from what is canon soo far, here is my conclusion.

-There is NO WAY Nice is not emotionally dependant on Wreck

Hence, I rest my case, your honour.

First of all, omg guyss!!!! tysm!!!! It's soo rare to see a popular post from my acc!!!!

250+ upvotes in less than 2 days is no joke for my posts!!!

Now onto topic.

I have seen many comments and theories regarding why Nice forgot his name a long time ago. They usually go like "Poor Nice", "Blankster did this shit!!!", "Hero work erased him", "Nice's life is concerning asf" or "Shang De has something to do with it!!".

So I kinda wanted to share my thoughts.

Kito Kat: Okay airhead, now actually speak. Stop yapping for like, ten minutes, nonstop.

"Ugh, fiineee!!!"

So going on, let's start!

1. Blankster Did It

- Kinda a flimsy theory ngl. For this to be valid, you need to create a certain condition.

-To make stuff easier, let's just say there is 3 types of memory loss Blankster can probably do under Shang De's control, chosen Memory Loss (cml), successive memory loss (sml). or recessive memeory loss(rml), random memory loss is unsuitable as a power and is probs not a skillset of Blankster.

-Sml: Unlikely, its not suitable to remove someone's memories starting from when they were a baby. Too useless in battles and missions with little timing.

-Rml: Makes little to no sense. Nice did remember Wreck from his idol days, probs his early hero days too and his childhood in 41 ac (Smile Incident day). Plus, he probs remembered his name back then (in his childhood memories). Even if Blankster removes his memories just pre suicide post Ahu incident, him forgetting his name "a long time ago" refutes this claim even if it makes sense at the start.

-Cml: This is actually possible however confusing. Like, Blankster can remove specific parts of Nice's memory. But why his name? If SD asked him to do it, why? SD is not good with secrets (Shang Cho's garage was legit in a non-isolated area) so why that? Does SD know smth abt Nice's name even Nice doesn't? Did SD himself make it a forgotten memory for himself? Why?

-Total Rating: 3-4/10, only 1 case is possible and it needs a screen time-taking reason.

Kito Kat: God... Just one theory and you yapped this much!? Is anyone even gonna have the patience??? Even you weren't fully correct with the name theory. Get shorter for the other stuff!!! Please!!!

"Dw, ik it's tiring. But I needed to explain a bit."

2. It Was The Hero Work!!

-This theory actually has some credibility and makes canonical sense. (Totally not the theory I was thinking of along the lines of but like, not as long as canon info says.)

-Nice was a hero for approx. seven years, enough time for someone to forget their name if they have been handling humanity-numbing work for ages.

-I can see how it ties up to Nice's identity being erased due to other people's perceptions and pressure put on him.

-Total Rating: 8/10, Likely to be canon.

3. Nice's Childhood Is The Culprit

-Ig this is a newer theory that is a pretty risky one but has gotten the timeline "long forgotten" right.

-For this to be true, Nice needs to have a mind-searing, almost inhumane, depersonalising childhood to make it true. It has to be DB level or higher type of angst to make it fully impactful with different execution.

-And I am not sure if LH0 will make it true or not considering the little time he will have to cover Nice's backstory.

-It would have a deep impact on Nice's viewing audience perception if it is indeed true.

-Overall Rating: 5-6/10, Risky theory, depends fully on Nice's backstory but has high rewards.

So this is all I have to say regarding his name. Damn... I hope I get to find more info on him.

Kito Kat: I am 1000% sure now that your next post on Nice's full view backstory will have more high word count yapping. Yare yare, this is hopeless. Can't you find a new topic instead of the same old one? Isn't it too tiring?

"Look, ik its repetitive, but as the "Sad Nice Backstory" agenda pusher of this sub, I need to go full-on with the riskier theories too instead of playing coward. Plus, it's not like you weren't yapping in it too..."

Uh... anyways...

I hope you enjoyed the post!!!

Edit: I was legit correcting the fonts and 100+ views already...wtf lmao...???

The proof of my words is in this link:

https://x.com/ocean_of_words_/status/2050264459730395602?s=20

edit: I have added the og screenshot taker on op's request in the comments bc I cant edit it here in the main body..

I have only two inferences now:

  1. The likely cause is his hero work and the title "Nice"
  2. If not the above, then I assume it's something more upsetting, or maybe even sinister...

Please let it be Wreck or Nice himself to bring it back.

In case my information is false, please let me know so that I can take down this post.

And in the case that I am indeed wrong, I beg you all to NOT HARASS the op of the post I sent you all. I am the sole one responsible here.
