There is the theory that Midnight Motorist depicts the life of one of William's (murder) victims because the other two, "8-bit" minigames depicted his (murder) victims as well (Security Puppet & Fruity Maze.

However, using that logic, I'd come up with the observation that William himself is the constant between each minigame, having played a critical role in each:

  1. In Security Puppet, he played an unseen yet important role as the one who murdered Charlie and left her dying body out, inadvertently having allowed her to possess The Marionette.

  2. In Fruity Maze, he was more of a background character only having appeared in the final run in his Spring Bonnie suit and having allowed us to see how he lured one of the MCI Kids, Susie.

  3. In Midnight Motorist, he took center stage and we got to a peek into his depressing home life. We also got more of a look into the kind of person he really was.

I think the three minigames having William as the "constant" throughout them forms a throughline to the story they and FFPS as a whole are trying to tell.

Thoughts?
