Hey there! I was wondering, what is the general consensus about swords breaking? In particular, about breaks that happen on the blade, what would be better for the longevity of the weapon? Since you are supposed to parry blows with the strong of the blade, what matters more, the width of the blade or the thickness?

I'm not sure how to better word my question, so if you want to ask for clarification, ask away.

I am curious as to how people chose their main weapon. Personally, I chose longsword because that was what was available at the time, and what our club is focused on practicing. I branched later to s&b on my own.

So how did you choose your weapon?
Was it because of the lack of options?
Aesthetics?
Specific historic reasons?
