Bought this week for $5300. Did I do any good?

I'm a service tech by trade with a take home vehicle. I used to be able to drive my work vehicle anywhere. A recent corporate buyout has changed the rules and that is no longer an option. It was very apparent that I needed a personal vehicle, like yesterday. A mechanic neighbor of mine put his "newer to him" daily up for sale that he was working on as he drove it. The guy works on many different types of vehicles and I've always admired his work from the road. He wanted to sell the BMW for something with a bit more passenger space. Stopped in and fell for it with the quickness. Got him down to $5300 and drove it home. I don't drive too much after work. Just need to bop around and pick-up kids from after school activities. With the occasional spin through the country roads. Just wondering if this seems like a decent deal? Very excited to join the BMW wagon club!

Note: I also wanted something to turn wrenches on and keep going for the next 3 or so years. I would love to hand it down to my oldest son for his first car. An awesome first car in my eyes!

Needed something to hop around town in. Thoughts?

I'm a service tech and I used to be able to drive my take home vehicle everywhere. After a corporate buyout that is no longer an option and needed a personal vehicle fast. I don't drive much outside of work so I wanted something older, with style and something to turn wrenches on. A neighbor mechanic of mine put this up for sale and I fell in love! He's always got more unique cars that he is working on and I can tell he's good. I ended up paying $5300 for it. New to BMW... Did I do alright??
