Semester abroad at FSU wanting to transfer to T25
hey! im a senior in highschool and i just committed to Florida State’s First Semester Abroad program (Florence, Italy) but I already know I may want to transfer later and I genuinely need advice on how to approach this strategically.
The specific admission pathway I received was FSU’s first semester abroad in Florence, and honestly I’m excited about it. However, part of me worries that starting abroad could put me at a disadvantage and behind other freshman applicants when it comes to building relationships, joining organizations early, pursuing internships, and establishing a strong transfer profile for T25/Ivy-level schools.
Right now I’m majoring in economics on a pre-law track (likely corporate law eventually), but I’m also extremely arts/humanities-oriented. I originally applied to every uni as an English major before switching to economics because I thought it would align better with law/business interests.
If anyone transferred out of FSU or maybe another 4 year state school, did their first semester/year abroad and then transferred to elite schools, or even has advice about building a strong freshman-year transfer profile, I’d genuinely appreciate hearing it.
