Apologies if this has been answered multiple times but I'm struggling to understand, when do we use souls?

I have a decent amount of diamond cards with the highest fusion being V and currently sitting with 8k+ souls but it never feels worth using it.

So do we only use them for black friday and fatal refresh or is there something else?

I'd be grateful for any additional tips.
