The ‘AI slop’ label has nothing to do with quality and we all know it
I’ve seen people on this sub dismiss AI-generated miniatures as slop while praising $3 Reaper Bones figures with mould lines you could trip over.
I printed an AI-generated model last week. Clean geometry, good detail, watertight mesh, printed first try on resin. Showed it to three people in my local hobby group. Nobody called it slop until I told them how it was made.
That’s not a quality argument. That’s an origin argument dressed up as a quality argument.
The real concerns what this does to professional sculptors, whether AI training on existing work is ethical, whether it changes the culture of the hobby those are legitimate conversations worth having honestly.
But calling the output slop when it demonstrably isn’t? That’s just fear wearing a critic’s hat.
What’s the actual objection here the quality or the fact that it was easy?
