Did you regret going from GI to players distance irons?
For those that improved from high handicap into mid handicap territory… did you regret leaving game improvement irons too early? Or did players distance irons actually help your game improve?
I’m in the market for new irons and planning to get fitted soon. I know the obvious answer is “play whatever you hit best in the fitting,” but I also feel like I’m making pretty big improvements and don’t want to buy something I’ll outgrow in a year or two.
I’m breaking 100 more often than not now and play around 6-8 rounds a month. My ball striking has improved a lot over the last year.
Current miss is usually a little toe side and occasionally a push right. I’m not really topping/chunking much anymore. I currently play 2019 Taylormade M2 irons.
Part of me wants to move into a players distance type iron so I can “grow into them” as I improve, but I also don’t want to make the game unnecessarily harder if GI irons are still the smarter choice for my game right now.
