Need advice ASAP: Drop year vs Diploma vs BSc (really confused)
Hey everyone,
I just passed 12th with 55.6%. I know it’s low, but honestly I didn’t study properly this year because of distractions and bad time management. I regret it now.
Right now I’m stuck and need some real advice.
I want to take a drop year and seriously prepare for JEE. I’m also thinking of giving board improvement exams and keeping CET as a backup.
But my parents are totally against a drop year. They think it will affect placements later, and they also believe I already studied and still got low marks (which isn’t really true, but I haven’t told them that).
So currently I have 3 options:
- Take a drop year (against my parents’ wishes) and prepare properly
- Do a polytechnic diploma in Tamil Nadu (my native place), then go for BTech via lateral entry
- Do a BSc and prepare for entrance exams alongside (my sister’s suggestion)
I’m really confused.
Does taking a drop year actually affect placements later? And what would you guys do in my situation?
Would really appreciate any advice 🙏 Need to decide soon because my parents might finalize my admission.
