Seat selection lies

I booked a ticket through the travel portal that includes seat selection according to their graphics and info. The main reason I purchased that ticket and that class of ticket was because the seat selection. Now once booked, I tried to go select my seats but turns out the airline won’t let me because according to them my ticket does not include free seat selection or any selection at all. Turns out the tickets I bought are American Airlines main cabin which includes free seat selection but is operated through British Airways which does not include free seat selection in that ticket class. I’ve tried to sort this through both AA customer service and BA customer service and now Capital one travel but they are telling me to eat dirt. Despite their platform clearly stating free seat selection they are claiming that is not what that means and that I need to pay for my seats. It’s a long haul international flight so I do care about being able to select seats in advance. If it was a short national flight I wouldn’t care but I selected this ticket BECAUSE it included FREE seat selection. So what do I do now? I have screen shots and all the proof but I can only talk to someone on the phone and they are telling me they cannot do anything about this but I’m pissed, I want to escalate this and I’m not letting this go. I purchased this ticket with false information and I paid a higher price for benefits I’m learning after the fact I’m not getting. Is there an email? Something that is not the phone where I’m brushed off?
