Gibson's book "The Peripheral" is very different from the mini-series.

I am a long-time Gibson fan, and I watched "The Peripheral" mini-series from Amazon. Then I read book #2 in the series, "The Agency", thinking that having watched the mini-series was mostly equivalent to reading the book. I just went back and read "The Peripheral" and while the book is usually better, in this case the mini-series is "barely inspired by" the book. The mini-series invented whole characters and subplots, and left out central plots from the book. The relationship between Wilf and Aelita is unrecognizable, as is Aelita's role in the plot. Interacting with neo-prims, patchers, all of this is radically different. The endings are unrelated. It is shocking to me how different these are. I would say that maybe 5% of the scenes overlap.
