I live in a town where the best I have for GI care is the general surgeon who does colonoscopies. It's been terrible, my provider did not seem to have the specialty knowledge and I think had I seen someone who was an actual GI, I might have been able to stay in remission.
Anyway, another provider suggested Oshi and so far I have to say I feel like I'm finally getting the care I need and it's more affordable. My husband lost his job (his entire office was laid off, I am self employed) so we only have healthcare through June, but because I was able to get four visits in with them I'm now covered for 12 months with Oshi. I met with my provider today and because steroids and Mesalamine alone aren't getting me out of my flare, she's working on getting me into a trial for biologics and if I don't qualify, looking for options that we can start before my coverage ends and that I won't have any issues with coverage if I have to go the marketplace and a different insurance company or lower coverage. I can share what a nightmare my local provider was and story there, but it's a rant and a wall of text.
I also get to see a nutritionist and for the first time ever I am seeing how changes in my diet can actually help my symptoms.
The point being, for the first time I feel like I have a provider who is a specialist, listens to me, takes the financial burden of this disease into account and wants to make sure I can get back to remission and stay there. So if you are in a place where you don't have provider options and you are considering it, my experience so far has been extremely positive.
