A few weeks ago I posted about my walnuts being uneven (pictures 1 & 3). I’m a total newbie and this is my first pair. Tbh I almost gave up walnut-ing altogether because no matter what I did, I couldn’t seem to even it out and I couldn’t bear to fail further. I then posted asking for help and some really kind folks in this forum said everyone makes mistakes in the beginning (crack a few eggs and that) which honestly made me feel a lot better.
Pictures 2 & 4 are the after brushing effects!
What I learnt: the brush type is what matters most.
Don’t get the densely packed one, get the one that’s sparse enough to get a clump of bristles into the grooves.
The soft nylon brush works best as it really glides into the grooves, ‘moulding’ into them. Hard brushes are so stiff they do not ‘mould’ into the grooves.
Add a little bit of sweat to the surface and brush brush brush! If the walnuts are dry and are without fresh sweat, brushing has very minimal effect.
I’ll make another post about brushes one day!
Thank you to this community for keeping me going 🙏
