Dealership taking forever to ship vehicle
I bought a used vehicle nearly three weeks ago. The dealership is out of state, has great reviews, and a friend of mine from the area uses that dealership for oil changes/maintenance and loves them.
The sales process was no haggling, great price offered, up front, everything.
They promised to overnight the paperwork, but then ended up sending it two day delivery...but didn't even get it out the door for a couple of days. All in all, it was a full week and two days from the moment I told them "yes, I want this car" to them saying "ok, we have everything we need." Then they took another two days to line up transport, which fell through, then fell through again. Now they're promising transport to pick it up in a couple of days. I have been without a car for over two weeks, because they originally told me I'd have the new vehicle by 5/1, so I turned in my lease on 4/30 instead of renewing it for another month. My mistake, and I'll own that. Still, it's been rough figuring out things in an area that doesn't have public transit.
The dealership has my money, and I don't want to be a royal asshat but at the same time, I'm extremely frustrated to be in this position. Any advice? Do I even have leverage to ask them to do anything to make it right, and if so, what would even be appropriate? It's not like I'm going to be taking the vehicle back to them for oil changes, etc.
I wish I'd just flown over there at the first sign of delays and just handled it all in person, but working insane hours these days and I honestly thought I could trust them to follow through quickly.
