Parents might get a divorce.
My parents have been together for 38 years. They have had a lot of ups and downs, but lately all they seem to do is fight over small things.
They had a major fight a couple of weeks ago, and after a few days, they seemed to get over it. My mom told me that it was bad, where they said some harsh words to one another.
Today I was present when they started to fight, and again they said some harsh words. I tried to calm them down, mostly because I didn't want to escalate the situation, but I was afraid that one of them might get a stroke or heart attack; they both have medical issues.
After a few moments, they both said that it's perhaps better for them to go their separate ways and get a divorce. My mom said to my father, "If after so many years you want to throw it all away, that's fine."
I was speechless and heartbroken. I started crying, and I think they might actually follow through. I hope that they maybe find some resolution, but I think that it's too late and that the damage is already done.
