Can a CA DMV employee please answer?
After searching the required documents for my 100% disability verification so I could get my license plates I found that all that was required was the 256 a form alongside my summary of benefits or a VSD-001 form.
Being that our vso office in town is only open one day a week for a few hours a day during my work hours I chose to use my summary of benefits for because it was obviously much more convenient than traveling out of town or requesting via phone and waiting for snail mail to present my form.
When I showed up to the DMV they promptly turned me away saying that the VSD-001 form is required however looking at the handbook it clearly says I could have used my summary of benefits as it is an official document from the Veterans office that shows my 100% status.
Were they incorrect to deny my summary of benefits letter as proof in lieu of a VSD-001 form?
I attached a paper I created that contains the the information directly from the DMV website that outlines this information.
