i had my bridal makeup trial this weekend for my wedding next month, and after wearing it that day, i left uncomfortable and not like myself! i would love some help figuring out what to adjust.

i usually don’t wear makeup unless on the weekends/going out, and when i do it’s pretty minimal. tinted moisturizer, concealer, a little blush, mascara and a tinted lip balm (like clinique black honey).

unfortunately because i don’t know a ton about makeup, i think i misspoke to my MUA. i said i wanted “soft” when what i think i meant was “natural.” i felt my makeup was too heavy, too neutral and ended up aging me. i also didn’t feel the foundation color matched my skin tone well and wasnt fully blended (see hairline).

she and i have had a good debrief conversation, so far we’ve landed on lighter coverage with a more natural slightly dewy look, more pink tones around the eyes and more blush, and i’m going to provide my own makeup that will probably be more berry than neutral. this look also had strip eyelashes, and we are going to switch to individual lashes. any other things i should ask for or consider?

  1. ring light

  2. and 3. natural lighting

  3. that evening after skin care (sorry for bathroom lighting)
