Legacy BP, fuel pump hose connection leaking

Legacy BP, fuel pump hose connection leaking

Hi guys,

I need some advice on the fuel pump outlet connection on Subaru Legacy 4gen.

About six months ago I replaced the fuel pump after the old one basically crumbled apart while I was changing the filters. I installed a second-hand pump with new filters and meshes and reconnected the hoses, but since then I am having a persistent petrol smell.

The outlet connection on the pump seems loose. At one point the hose fully disconnected and the car started leaking petrol when I turned it on. I reattached it, but it still appears to drip slowly.

The plastic outlet and the O-ring style retainer don’t seem easy to replace, so I’m not sure what the best fix is.

Does anyone know a reliable solution?

Thanks in advance!

Edit: added the car model to be clear
