What has been the weirdest or hardest thing you’ve had to struggle with while starting a business that nobody really talks about?

The reality of it is, its repetitive, uncertain, financially awkward, mentally exhausting, and honestly kind of isolating at times. Most people only understand startups once there’s visible success attached to them.

There’s also this weird transition where your hobbies, sleep schedule, conversations, and even the way you consume content start changing because your brain is permanently scanning for problems, opportunities, systems, risks, and leverage.

It’s hard to “turn it off.”

The actual product can become a surprisingly small percentage of the overall workload as well. Having to consider legal, compliance, marketing, etc..,

Curious what it’s been for everyone else here.

A few months ago, Veridian Signal was basically just a Discord bot and a pile of ideas.

Now it’s turning into a full ecosystem we call VERA — a modular market intelligence environment built around four functions:

- Pulse → watches information flow

- Oracle → interprets/scoring

- Sentinel → moderation/security

- Scholar → education/explanations

The interesting part is that most of our time lately hasn’t actually been spent on “AI magic” or trading models. It’s been architecture, data governance, licensing concerns, routing logic, and figuring out how to make market intelligence readable without drowning people in noise.

We’ve been rebuilding the system on GCP with a plug-and-play structure so new strategies, feeds, and protocols can slot in without rewriting everything every month.

One thing we underestimated early:

building the system is only half the challenge.

The other half is:

- making outputs understandable

- reducing noise

- handling source quality

- separating signal from hype

- figuring out what can legally/publicly be displayed

- designing around imperfect data

Right now we’re in a weird in-between phase:

not “launched,” but also way beyond prototype territory.

Current focus:

- SEC + RSS ingestion

- report routing

- event-triggered intelligence reports

- Discord infrastructure cleanup

- building a "/vera [ticker]" system that can explain why something surfaced instead of just screaming “BUY/SELL”

Honestly, the biggest shift has been realizing we’re not really building a “stock bot” anymore.

We’re building an intelligence workflow.

Still a ton left to do, but it’s finally starting to feel like a real system instead of disconnected scripts held together with caffeine and hope.
