Although New England and Chesapeake Bay regions were both settled mainly by English men and were colonies under the British crown, because Chesapeake Bay colonies gave greater religious tolerance and developed around a cash crop economy, and  New England colonies had less religious tolerance and developed around a diversified economy, Developments of New England and Chesapeake Bay region colonies differed significantly due to the difference of economic and religious developments.
